Individual project under Wiel Arets

Figures traced from existing intenret images

A project as a part of understanding the city as nature. I was interested in the idea of expressing the rhythm in architecture. Rhythm in  buildings can be expressed in the repetition of architectural members and the cyclical way that people use buildings. This project can also be perceived as a contrast or critique to contemporary high-rises in that high-rises do not reveal what they truly are in many cases; rather modern high-rises are mostly a capitalist enterprise capped by a high performing envelope. Beauty in architecture stems from showing the observer or user what the building actually is or how it is made.

Revealing the true nature of a building may create a sentimental connection and a sense of curiosity in the surrounding environment.

Although this is close to, if not, fantasy; these drawings made me realize how architecture can bridge the gap between what is practical, functional, technological, and rational with what is wonderful, novel, expressive and human.
